Work on a 6.3-MW Renaico small hydropower project in Chile’s Bio Bio region should be completed soon, according to the country’s Ministry of Energy.
The project is being developed by Mainco, which is also planning the 1.5-MW Alto Renaico that will be located on the same canal.
Work on Renaico’s infrastructure was completed in December of this past year, and commissioning is expected for July.
Once complete, Chile’s Ministry of Energy said the Bio Bio region will have a total installed capacity of about 16.2 MW produced by small hydroelectric projects.
